Coil over sleeve kits..

Anybody done these? Cant afford a complete coil over setup, but these look interesting. Car will not be a race car, just AX and the occcasional DE, but I do like my cars stiff. Ive ran many, many cars with the biggest t-bars and sway bars and I still would like stiffer. Coil springs are obviously a way to do this, just not sure on how good these kits are that Chuck and Pelican sells.. Price is only marginally different than new t-bars anyway, so why not? right?..

anybody?

Try rebel racing, they make a coil over kit.

How much does your car weigh? If it is light, then you can probably get stiff enough with torsion bars. The main advantage of a coil spring setup is the ease of adjusting ride height. If you were going to do a stand-alone coil spring setup (not helping the torsion bars) you get access to the 935 spring plate but it also requires bracing the chassis since you are putting the load through a different path.

One way would be to do stand alone coil-over spring in the rear where it has maximum benefit (935 spring plate, alignment is easier, and ride height adjustability) while staing with torsion bars in the front (of a rate that balances the rear springs). You also have a bit more tire clearance for negative camber with torsion bars (mainly noticable in front.)

Do you know what he did to reinforce the chassis? I've been contemplating a similar set up but don't know if the benefits outweigh the cost and work.

The rears have to be reenforced as they were never intended to hold the weight of the car. This is a neat set-up and not that much more than a new set of torsion bars. and very easy to set ride hight and to swap springs. Rebel kit, like most, slip over the shocks.

You may reach a point of spring rate where the chassis may begin to flex before the springs do. If you need this much spring rate, ensure the chassis is rigid enough to make this suspension modification relevant.
