Question 911 Relays Going Nutz!! Helpppp

My 1979 911 SC has some major (Intermittant) issue with the relay's. When I turn the ignition on the ignition relay toggles like crazy, the car will still start and run but I have no Idea why it happens??? While the relay is toggling, there is a loud buzzing sound coming from the CIS in the engine compartment...

Can anyone shed some light?????????????

Please??

Thanks,

Alex in NJ

Relays going crazy..

I should clarfy,

When I turn the ignition switch, I hear a relay under the hood (the one closest to the driver in the line of round relays in the fuse box) starts switching back and forth like crazy. Also, in the engine compartment I hear a loud buzzing noise.

This is intermittant. I ahve changed the relay, checked the battery and connections to no avail..

Also, the car runs and starts fine.

Hellllp.....

I am getting similar "chatter" from the relay I am using to run my oil cooler fan. The relay works fine as far as running the fan, but it clicks like crazy when the fan is off.

Resurecting an old thread

I'm resurrecting an old thread...

Mossy97 - did you ever figure out what was causing the buzzing / relay antics in your 79? I'm experiencing the exact same issue with my '82 SC this week and it's driving me crazy.

Thanks!

China Made RELAY Hi-Po BUZZZ

Sorry to bring this old thread up but I had a very strange thing happen to me tonight.

Yesterday, I replaced one of my blown Black OEM round relays for the fog light with the Tangential Blower Relay and then placed a back up China made URO brand there.

Everything started fine but right after dinner, I got this HORRID BUZZ eminating from my trunk area.

Was your relay OEM spec or URO?

Jim
