Speaker Enclosure Rear Deck - Moch 1

Hey all,

I'm working on my radio delete and had some interesting speaker enclosure over the rear deck. Doing a little Googling it looks like a Moch 1 enclosure.

Any reason to keep this and any idea of value in good, working condition?

Mark

I have one of those for my 69, and a similar one (with Blaupunkt speakers) in my 73. Any reason to keep? Only if you plan to use it--it's not a factory part. What is it worth? Around $100 I'd say, maybe a bit more or less depending on condition of speakers. You do have an unusual color, however--typically they are black--which may lower the value.

Ossieblue,

You make a good point about holding onto stuff that you'll never use again. I should sell this and fund a portion of my chain tensioner update. Doesn't sound like they are too rare, even in cork.

Thanks.

If you decide to sell it then it would be perfect for our '78 Targa, cork.

Also known as a "Clover Enclosure". I think you'd be letting it go too cheap at $100. I don't think they are made anymore.

I have a little trouble parting with stuff that seems original and/or "vintage" from this car.

Example, I completed my A/C delete and could sell the cork console now that I have no controls but its just so old and vintage that I'm going to leave it in the car. I've actually thought about just leaving this enclosure in the car even though I have no radio now. I'm not saying I will do that, I'm just making a point that parting with old, cool parts is not that easy. I bet I'm not alone!

Not a bit alone, my Saratoga falls into that catagory, it may have drawbacks but it's just plain cool and not available anymore.

I wouldn't mind having one of those for my car, I vote keep it. Don't think you are REALLY going go get a lot for it but may never come across another one.

Yes to the Clover. They do have some value for those that want them. They came in 2 depths for the rear shelf, Coupe and a more narrow one for the Targa. You can use a narrow one for the Taga in the coupe but not the other way around.

The voice of reason...

Speaking with a buddy he convinced me to not let nostalgia for the vintage clutter up my garage with items I will never use again. Plus, and maybe more importantly, this unit can go to a good home where someone will use it.

I totally agree as a general rule, but I'm talking pedal clusters badly needing rebuild, old warped door panels, pieces of 911 carpet (that are ok but don't make any sort of set) even.

That said another time I'd be jumping to take that bad boy off your hands and give it a loving home ........
