What is the voltage when cranking? If there is a significant drop then you have a bad cable. OR in one case, "I" had a bent starter shaft that caused a drag.
The PO neglected to replace the bushing inside the trans.....

OK will test voltage on fat yellow at starter when cranking
- can I disconnect anything to stop car firing up, as she fires up so quick I will not have time to see voltage? - should I test voltage on skinny yellow (at starter motor) at any stage or is that irrelevant?

Pull the coil wire or fuse to the DME. Just you would when adjusting valves with a remote starter and bumping it to a different location on the flywheel.

You're looking for normal voltage and any drop when it is cranking. If you have 12.8v at the battery terminals, you should little or no drop at the starter.
A drop of 2v or more while cranking can be indicative of a bad cable.

Have removed a buzzer alarm which was hooked up to the speedo???
Have found that an aftermarket relay which is in the position normally reserved for the oil cooler relay is hooked into one of the fuel relays?? (930 - has 2 fuel pumps and relays) This square relay takes power from the fuse strip (yellow fat wires marked) and feeds 12v to the 1st fuel relay - which also appears to have been messed with! ![]() This text refers to pics below: The back side of the relays shows the fat yellow wires again (yellow arrow)which are attached via bullet connectors to the 1st Fuel relay (red wire- red arrow). The relay has been cut open at the back and there may be aftermarket blue wires here(2) Can anyone confirm if the wires at the back of the fuel relay are original? What wires should be going in /out of the fuel relay?? If I pull the power to the after market relay the car dies or will fire initially but stall immediately. Should I remove this extra (square) relay and power the 1st fuel relay directly off the fuse block (if so, how many amp fuse?) ![]() ![]() -------------------------- I also found PERMANENT 12v supplied to # 14 socket at the 14 pin connector at the engine bay (left side) this is a fat red wire- powered up with ignition off!! Is this normal???? Any help appreciated
