Pics from Dunkels show & swap meet today

I'm sure Wayne and the Pelican crew probably shot hundreds of pics at Dunkels today, but here's my meager collection (I got there really late but it was still a good time):

Cheers,

The weather was really terrible.

Almost 80 degrees, clear skies, pretty windy.

It's been a rough winter.

Great pics, really gives us Northeasterners a lift, 40 and raining now supposed to be single digits and snowing by dawn.

Could this be a turbo V8 in a 911 body?

I was there late and left pretty early (still fighting a cold). Great show, though. I took some pictures, including some of the Turbo V8 (an 11-second car with 550 claimed RWHP).

But my pictures are a lot less comprehensive than Wayne's or Chris's. I was mostly recording ideas for possible mods to my own car.

Still, here they are.

The weather actually was pretty bad by So. Cal. standards.

It was windy as heck, and a nearby 1500 acre brushfire made it smokey, too!

What a collection of cars though! Hundreds of Porsches, at least one of just about every Porsche ever made (except the 924, that's the only one I didn't see), and some that I never even knew were made.

Like weird looking sedan type things. A few of them.

911R, 911RS, all kinds of 356, 904 (or 906?), 917 and other race cars, etc.

Dunkel does equipment moving, so they have all sorts of monsterous equipment moving stuff. So there are Porsches in the trees, on roof, etc.!

A great "little gathering" of cars. Informal and a lot of fun.

Was this for sale?

Hey! Was this sign for sale? If so did it sell? If not does anyone know who the seller is and how to get ahold of them?

I have been looking for a dealer building illuminated shield like that for some time now to put up in my garage here at the house.

If this one sold and you have one for sale please. Let me say that again... Please, get ahold of me. Thanks!

Best wishes,
Gary

Yeah, Bill. The guy had a monster radiator, with a servo activated scoop that drops down during acceleration to bring air in from under the car. There was also a big outlet under the car, which seems a little questionable to me, as high-speed engineering goes.

Then there's the liquid-based air cooler in the back seat that that front tank there supplies. The guy had something other than water in it -- he was having guys sniff it. It may have been alcohol -- or beer.

He's also got the Bud in the bag, there. Keeping himself cool, I guess.

Jack, I (for reasons even I don't fully understand) am subscribed to an MG mailing list. Someone posted a link to a web site listing the top 10 collector cars, foreign and domestic. Number 2 on the domestic list was the Porsche 911. The car on the site looks...familiar; can you place it? The link is http://www.buyclassiccars.com/ams/articles/42.asp.

Emanuel:

Hey... hey... what's up with everyone suddenly using my pictures?

It's not even a particularly good picture of the car, and -- as an illustration of 'the 911,' it's not even a recognizable model. It's got 16-inch wheels, no front bumper covers, the American headlight rings, a non-stock color, and I'm not sure even which tail back there.

Still, kind of flattering.

I was blown away when I caught that, Jack. The link we got on the MG list was to the 2nd page of the site, where the MGB is listed. I just idly clicked on the first page to see if the 911 placed, and there was your car! Your problem is, your pictures are too good.

But the one they used was just grabbed with my camcorder. I don't much like it.

Here's a picture that says '911' to me:

Or pure 911 simplicity:
