I have a 1980 targa SC and it has a 85 MPH speedometer and would like to change it to a regular one . What do I have to do and where do I find a replacement. Do other year models fit

Not sure where your located. You can try any Porsche dismantler. In my neck of the woods, it's PartsHeaven in Hayward. As far as what years would fit, I could not answer that. I imagine they would all "fit", but would they work when you wired them up.

Maybe North Hollywood speedo can convert it. Call them. that way you get an overhaul at the same time

the one you have is a regular one .... I think all "california" bound cars in 80 came with the 85mph stock ........

They also had the '55' highlighted. The national speed limit in the entire US was 55 mph during that time. Everyone violated it. Everyone. It was during the big oil/gas crisis; to potentially save energy. FWIW... If you put a earlier or later 150 mph speedo in it, any buyer will know that the mileage shown on the odo is NOT authentic. That's why I kept mine. Last edited by tcar; 03-14-2011 at 03:52 PM.. |
