question - rear winshield drain
where does this drain hole lead to? I tend to get puddles at the bottom corners of rear windshield. should they drain out of those holes?

That is the drain hole for the sun roof. If you see much drain there you may consider replacing the sun-roof seal

if you are getting water inside rear window, it probably means you need to replace the rear window seal (the corners are a common place for it to leak).

As already posted, that is a drain hole for the sunroof tube. If the puddling in the corners of the rear windshield is on the outside, that is normal due to the design/angle of the windshield and seal. This is also why it is critical that the seal is sound, supple, and fits properly because that puddling water will seep through a bad seal and flow under the padding on the rear package tray, down to the rear seat bottoms, and down to the floor. Result, rust, rust, rust.
Bottom line, if your issue is with water on the outside, you're o.k. but you should now check the inside which will be under some interior pieces. I'd suggest that at the least you remove the upholstery over the rear package tray and inspect for past or present water entry. If any is found or you have any doubt as to the age or quality of the seal, replace it.

awesome.
the issue is just the puddle outside. i had a chance to remove the windshield the other day and the body shop i worked with was curious if there was a way to get rid of the puddle. when the glass was out, i saw no leak, very clean surface. we were almost about to get the glass guy back and re-do the windshield but now i have the answer that i don't need to. hope this thread helps the others with the same question. I tried to search for the info but i gave up after about one hour of exploration. :-)
