Targa rear window seal questions
I have to R&R the rear window on my 78Targa in a couple of weeks becasue the seal is not properly seated. PP shows different Rear Window Frame Seals that go along the bottom base of the window, stating 2 are required for 90+ Targas and 1 for pre 90 Targas. The part numbers are the same. Does the 78 require 2 or 1 and what is this part? I didn't put it in the last time, I think.
I would also like to remove the trim piece in the seal to match my front windshield. Did the seals for the 90+ Targas require this trim piece? PP do not list a part number for 90+ Targas. I assume all Targa windows are the same too, sans the soft windows and 993s. Any help appreciated. And if you want to help with the installation I'll supply the beer!

I think there is some confusion regarding how the seals are listed in the two separate areas for -89 and 90- cars. The bottom seal that is listed is the beading that fits between the quarter panel and the black metal trim under the targa window, I believe. Then there is the beading that attaches to the rear of the targa bar and "sits" on top of the targa window. Then there is the actual targa window seal, which actually seals the targa window to the body. I should have the same setup on my '80 as you have on your '78, and I've had my window out before. Next time I replace the seal it will be with the newer style without the metal trim embedded in it. I think vertex had it on sale for $89 awhile back, but it's normally around $120 on their site. Hope this helps.
