901 transaxle identification
I have had this 901 transaxle in storage for over 35 years and have no idea what it is.
With these numbers from the bottom does anyone know what it is and maybe what it might be worth as a core? 901/13 and 7197372 thanks, Jim |

901/13 type number would be from 1969, would be a 5-speed from a 911E or 911S. Your s/n 7197372 also indicates a 1969 5-speed with standard ratios.

Mark is right on.
It is a late 1969 ‘pressure cast’ magnesium 5-speed with the standard A-F-M-S-Z ratios with 7:31 R&P. It will have the ‘reinforced’ input shaft (good) and the ‘simplified differential’ (needs update to prevent major failure). The range of transmission numbers for a type 901/13 is from 7193001 to 7198787. Without inspecting it internally, it could be worth from almost nothing to be over $1K. I too have some that have been sitting for 35 years. ![]() Best, Grady
