Maybe three years ago someone sent me this. I saved it but stupidly didn't record who sent it to me. I've gotten interested in it again and would love to know who was its author... both to thank him and ask a question.

Mystery solved!
It was Burgermeister. I completely misunderstood his earlier response to me. He claims that long winters have forced him to do things like this; in fact he has since greatly refined this ss and created something much more elaborate.
