Installing new bilstein question

I am trying to install Bilsteins in my 67 912 in Boge struts. The issue I see is the Bilstein in shorter than the Boge. There is a brass ring that came with the Bilsteins that look about the right spacer but it does not fit in bottom of the strut I don't what to force it. Here are some pictures. Any input would be great.
Thanks Jerry

dude, I am just about to install Koni Sports in my Boge struts, I have no info but want to thank you for the pic.

how was the removal process?

also the Koni's came with a handful of bits and pieces that I dont have any idea what to do with....the "instructions" are a cartoon picture that look like my kids drew... crazy !

Best of luck!

You can drop a couple of steel flat washers into the housing instead. Just thick enough that the strut bottoms as it is being tightened down. If you want to use the Bilstein spacer you might need to cut a slot with a hacksaw to allow it to be pinched in a little smaller. I have used washers years ago with Bilstein inserts for a Datsun 240Z which didn,t include spacers but had the same length problem. Also add a couple ounces of oil or antifreeze to the housing to aid heat transfer from the insert to the housing.

Ivangene The strut came out pretty easy the problem I had was the top were it mounts to the car the tube that holds the rubber mounts was rusted solid to the strut I had to cut it off.

Johnsjmc The problem I see with cutting the bushing is ever getting it out after it wedges in the bottom. Why would they send a bushing that does not fit the strut. A lath would be nice but I may just go with the washers like you suggest
Thanks

if you dont have a lathe - how about a sander, grinder, or file... sure its not much that has to come off.... right?

RE the hacksaw... could cut it in two... then it will come out when needed
