Try the 911 technical forum...

CIS system? If so I'd check the injectors and lines (likely to be varnished/gummed up). The plugs could be fouled and a host of other things.

If it's been sitting that long there will be a lot of things you want to check out before using it regularly but insofar as just simply starting it up and getting the engine going, focus on the obvious "fire triangle" stuff - air, fuel, spark. Air filter clogged? Plugs okay? Gas getting through to injector nozzles?

I'd pull all the spark plugs out and crank the engine a bit too just to get things "unstuck" too before firing up. Good luck.

check the fuse for the fuel pump? Does it hum or make noise when the ignition switch is on? You'd do best to drain all the gas and start with new - you may not even be getting any out of the tank -

Perhaps our mod will switch this to the tech side? Not being mean, but this is off topic, while those who live to turn wrenches stick pretty much over there.

Ask this on the 911 Technical Forum. This is the Off-Topic Forum, not sure why you thought this was the right place to get help, but it is not - not the best place, anyway.

tigerlx,

We're going to need more information on what you have already done to troubleshoot. How do you know the engine is not getting fuel? Did you lift the air flow plate and hear the injectors running?

On a 1975, the fuel pump comes on with the key in the run position. Extra fuel that is not used (such as when the engine is not running) is recirculated back to the fuel tank in a continuous loop. I'd pull out an injector and put it in a glass jar, turn the ignition on, and lift the air flow sensor plate to see if fuel is coming out the injector.

Not all fuel pumps will work - they must have the correct pressure, as the CIS needs high fuel pump pressure. If you can tell us exactly what pump you have, we might be able to tell you if it will work. There are a lot of threads on here about buying a universal pump and which ones work - if you do a search.

I have been going through the same thing with a 75 that had sat for years. I replaced the fuel pump, accumulator, and filter. If you remove the line that goes from the accumulator to the engine, you can see if gas comes out when you turn the ignition on. If you have gas, then it is not your pump or tank. My tank had a gallon worth of rust powder in it, and needed to be cleaned out.

The next issue I had was the fuel distributor. It has a plunger on the bottom that I am pretty sure is supposed to move- mine is frozen with old fuel residue, so I am in the process of replacing it.

By the way, on my car, mice had built a nice next right on top of the oil cooler. Glad I am rebuilding the engine or I may not have found that.

Good luck!
