Is it Leather, or is it Vinyl?

I have an 1980 911 SC Targa. When I bought the car the seats were pretty much destroyed. I replace the seats. My carpet is blue but I am going to dye it black.

I want to dye the rear seats and trip black also. Are the rear seats and the trim vinyl or leather?

Leather I dye them. Vinyl I think it is a paint product.

It is pretty worn right now.

The left is Vinyl and the right is Leather, don't know if this helps?

You can definitely dye vinyl too.

To check the material you can push in on it firmly with a finger. The vinyl will stretch and the leather will kind of wrinkle or lightly crack open. Most SCs have vinyl rear seats unless the car was ordered with full leather.

Thanks for the info.

I am going to go for the color change. Never liked the blue interior.

Crap, I have a blue interior. Pull some material up at a corner and see if it looks like it was weaved or looks like suede leather.
