Rough estimate for 76 930?
I just want to get a rough idea of how much a early 930 is.... and what's the difference between a 930 and a regular turbo for ex. earlier than 76' they, from what I know, didn't have 930's but did have 911t's. Sure a bunch of you know the history so let me have it! I haven't done enough research but it's 3:11 am here in NJ and this was the last thing I was wondering after I've been on the computer for hours looking at stuff on this awesome sight. (yea Wayne!) There is never enough time to learn everything I want to and I always find myself here for hours at a time. Thanks in advance for any responses.
Pat

The only turbo I know of from Porsche before the '76 was in one of those super-rare Carrera models that only Seinfeld can afford, so don't worry about those. The 76-77 930s run high-teens to low-twenties - they aren't as popular as the later years because they have the smaller engine (3.0) and no intercooler. The 78-79 cars are much more sought after, and then you leap to the 86 or so to avoid the grey-market models from when Porsche wasn't shipping them here.
Personally, if I were turbo shopping I'd get a 951 instead, but I've learned that I'm not a turbo guy - I like the more predicatable driving characteristics of the N/A cars. They're fun, though. Emanuel

BTW; 911T's were the "entry level" 911 and had the lowest output engines. Early '70's T's put out between 125 and 140 HP. The E's, S's and (non-Turbo'd) Carreras all had more. The only Turbo's that I know of prior to 1976 were Porsche Racing prototypes such as the 917-10/30 (16 total for both versions combined + one or two which were built from spare parts) and the 2.1 liter Turbo-Carreras from 1974 of which about 4 were built. None of these were intended for use on public roads.

I've seen an original 1975 homologation 911 Turbo for sale for a loooong time now. The guy wants huge bucks for it.
Don't confuse the 911T for the 911 Turbo (or 930 which is just the internal numeration for the 911 Turbo). I had a "T" once and believe me it don't stand for turbo! HA!

Don't worry Leland it wasn't a question based on interest to buy, just interest to know. I was indeed under the impression that the early "T" models were turbo but I also thought the first regular street turbo was from 76 and so now I know. I also knew 930 was just another name for 911turbo as 951 is for the 944turbo, but since I thought the "T" was turbo I was confused. Thanks guys and my first 911 will be an SC for more reasons than one. Cheers guys-
Pat
