I don't smoke but I do like to drink...
I've been trying to figure out what to do about the lack of cup holder in my 911 for years. I know there have been several different styles and designs but they never left me feeling like they completely solved my problem. They always looked like an add on or aftermarket piece that took away from the interior or was stupid expensive (for a cup holder anyways)
Anyways, here is what I came up with to solve the problem; I picked up an Audi cup holder on eBay (my wife has the same one in her A6) and then proceeded to remove the ash try and in its place install the A6 mech. The cup holder is spring loaded so all you have to do is press in on the trim and out pops your drink caddy. ![]() ![]() A water bottle or can will fit fine but a large commuter mug will have a harder time with the shape of the dash. enjoy, Sporttracguy Last edited by Sporttracguy; 04-15-2011 at 04:09 PM.. |

Option #2?
Couldn't you just stuff the neck of the bottle into the hole where the clock used to be?

I like it, I really like it! Did the Porsche ash tray and trim separate easily? How did you attach the Audi cup holder to the Porsche trim? Sorry for the stupid question but my car is not with me.

The ash tray pops right out with a few pressure clips. I think there were 2 screws holding in the trim. I did have to cut out a portion of the sheet metal in the dash to slide in the cup holder. I used an epoxy putty to secure the trim to the cup holder face.
That empty sport where the clock used to be makes a great air vent. The plan is to install a tt vent for adjustable air flow Sporttracguy Last edited by Sporttracguy; 04-15-2011 at 05:57 PM.. |

I find that it's easier to put a water bottle in the side pocket.

Nice! I'm looking to do something similar - the $35 cupholder they sell on PP which fits into the lighter socket looks kinda cheesy, and this looks like a reasonable alternative.
What year / model is your car btw?
