Fluid Change Intervals

Didn't find anything in my SEARCH so I'm asking, has anyone put together a fluid change interval chart for a 30+ year old car?

Example:

Transmission fluid: Change every 30,000 miles. That's once every 10 years.

Oil change: Every 5,000 miles or at least once a year ... or is it twice a year.

Brake fluid: Every two years. Should it be more often if driven less than 3,000 miles/year

Just doesn't make sense to use owner manual intervals when the car is 30+ years old and driven maybe 3,000 miles a year.

It depends:

Weekend Warrior
Daily Driver
AX/DE
Track

will determine frequency of changes.

This is what I've been doing for the last 11 years.

Engine oil... Twice a year
Gearbox oil... Every three years
Brake fluid... Every two years

Engine oil filter... Once a year
Air filter... Every two years
Fuel filter.... Once a year

Valve adjust... Every three years or sooner if they become noisy.

My car travels about 9,000 kms every year. (5600 Miles) I know it's over kill

Speaking of valve adjustments, what do you guys consider "NOISY" on these engines? My 914 I was used to that being noisy... but my 911, since I never owned one was not quite sure what you'd consider "Noisy". I hear a little clicking but am not sure if it's "A lot" or "That's normal" since it's my first 6.

This seems to be a very subjective detail depending on who you listen to. Some suggest that the gaps actually get tighter between adjustments, so in theory, the engine should get quieter (at cold idle). I can't offer any opinion since I could never get the feeler into the gap without loosening off the adjustment screw first. At the end of an oils life the engine seems to get a tad noisier......not that these cars can be described as quiet by most measures. I change out my tranny fluid every 15k along with the other items in a major, and change out my brake fluid every two years as per Porsche. I change my oil every year (six month driving season) 2-5 k miles, I figure this should be amended (increased frequency) to adapt to what type of driving that you typically do. I live in the country so very little of my miles are stop and go, also the car is rarely shut off before having the temperature run up and maintained for half an hour. Cheers

Mine gets fresh oil and oil filter every 3K miles.

That G50 gets fresh tranny fluid at 10K miles or annually

New brake fluid every year.....

I think it's because in the mornings i am just waking up and everything is annoying to me. yesterday as i came home from work i listened and went "That's really not that big of a deal.. it's pretty quiet." i tend to get ticked off by noises moreso than other people. i also can become quite paranoid with my cars.

On good news, opened my box of parts last night but looks like i forgot to order the feeler gauge. aside from that all my stuff is there! going to have a very fun 3 days off with my car!

Alas, I think my first trip is still two months away. I usually take her out by the end of April, but this year I'll be in Europe....ALMOST makes me want to stay here. I would be such a gas to have my car in Italy....a Renault will have to do though. Cheers
