Pleco, Just noticed that you were local to DC. Try going to this site, local Porsche club and others in the DC area. These are a bunch of well informed Porsche nuts and they can help you with finding someone to do a PPI or check their website to see the cars for sale. Good luck. Steve (on Eastern Shore of MD).

Another reason that complete service records provide more info than simply being another route to "goodness" vs a PPI........

Hiya Steve. Thanks for the heads up. Will check it out :)

Excellent point, Wil. Thank you.

This point has struck home as I am trying to find some stateside Porsches for purchase by a good friend in Germany...with an eye to getting them sent back to Germany. The long distance and the fact these cars will undergo a speedo swap-out from MPH to KPH...makes having service documentation CRITICAL for these sales, in terms of giving the new owners comfort as to knowing the car's history and somewhat also of a mileage/dates verification once the metric conversion process was done.

Surprisingly, about 99% of the "nice" cars I find here..... need to be rejected because the of sellers having absolutely NOTHING in terms of service history or receipts. I ask..."well, how 'bout just a shoe-box full of oil change receipts that can show date, mileage when done, etc?. Answer, sorry, " I have nothing, but you are welcome to do a PPI....".

PPI won't do this..... very, very frustrating,,,,,

My car (when purchased) was a garage queen with 46K on her with only a couple of years worth of documentation. Now I've kept a spread sheet with all I've done for the past 9 years (and it is EXTENSIVE), but it's only for "me", and could easily be faked, so what does one do? I do have a bunch of receipts, but if something were to happen to me today, my car would be a totally undocumented 68K garage queen with at least 10K worth of mods (total suspension upgrade/refresh, 930 brakes, the list goes on and on). Frankly, I don't ever intend to sell her, so I'm not at all concerned with "resale value" and keeping records for the next owner. It "is what it is", and is simply why each car must be judged on it's condition. I'm not disagreeing with anything you guys are saying, just offering a different perspective. Good luck Pleco...I know this has been a frustrating search for that "special" SC!!!

ps: I've also done every bit of the work myself, no professional service whatsoever...another turnoff for some.
