Anyone know how to remove 5 pin connectors?

I have a ground fault in the 5 pin connector that brings the power from the battery to terminal 30 in the ignition switch.
It is one of the connectors that passes the wiring through the trunk and into the under dash area.
Does anyone know how to remove the pass thru connector so I can fix it?

I believe the connector under the dash just pulls out. The one through the firewall is a grommet type and will push into the luggage compartment, but not easily. If you need to replace a piece of it, I might have the connectors that you could slice into your harness.

yes just disconnect it on the inside and the female side pulls out from the hole. There all molded in so you can cut and splice the whole unit. I think I saw them for sale somewhere that specializes in electrical connectors.

The female side pulls out from the trunk side? So it would end up in the trunk?
Is it possible to take them apart to trouble shoot them or are they molded as one unit?

well one part is in the trunk (female) and the other part is under the dash. yes you pull it out in the trunk (where the wires are). Assembly in the reverse. A little silicone spray will help when putting back in the hole.

I am still trying to find to ground short/fault.
I have chased it back to the power supply of the fuse panel.
The red/black wire from the 5 pin connector going to the ignition switch was showing a ground fault. I chased it back to where it enters the top of the fuse panel on fuse #12.
Everything is disconnected and the fuse is out.
I removed the red/black wire from the fuse block and the ground fault/ continuity went away
When I put the continuity meter on the top of the fuse holder on fuse 12 and ground I get a tone meaning a ground fault.

Are the top of the fuse mounts grounded?
Are they connected to each other?

The only way I could have a continuity between the top of fuse block 12 and ground is if they where connected or grounded somewhere.

Let's keep this all together in one thread so everyone can follow a consistent diagnosis. Why don't you delete all the other threads except this one: Is the fuse panel grounded???

Or at least, refer everyone from now on to the above thread.

LJ has given you a very good advise. For this particular problem, I believe you have already started atleast 5 different threads for your problem. And personally, I like to contribute and assist you but could not follow you or get lost in the transition from one thread to another. It would be beneficial to your problem solving if you focus or concentrate yours and our attention to a single thread until the problem is diagnosed and corrected.

You can't delete the thread(s) but keep them dormant. Don't even reply to them to prevent people from engaging in the thread. Better still, place a note that a single post would be used to focus your and our attention in locating the problem. Please let us know where to start. And I bet, between you and LJ, this is an easy fix. Simply follow the instructions and it would systematically lead to the solution. We are all with you in getting this problem resolve quickly.
