Fitted webers, fuel filters?
I've 2.7L fitted with Webers, what fuel filters to use? Currently I only have a fuel filter built into the fuel pressure regulator I mounted in the engine compartment.
Can I use the cheap plastic fuel filters I can by at gas stations and every were? I think about fitting one "plastic" fuel filter between the gas tank and the fuel pump in front. And fit one fuel filter before the fuel regulator in the engine compartment? And make sure the pressure going out at the fuel regulator remains the same at idle after woods? Good idea? I have no experiment.

Remi,
Has someone moved the pump to the front? Is the installation as a 1970 911T? Does the pump circulate back to the tank? How recently has the tank and screen been cleaned? There is a screen filter as part of the supply fitting in the fuel tank. That is sufficient to protect your fuel pump. A fine filter before the pressure regulator is needed. In a pinch, any automotive filter will suffice. Yes, there are much better filters than “…the cheap plastic fuel filters I can by at gas stations….” You will find a diversity of opinion. The criteria are: Fine enough to protect the carburetors. Not restricting the fuel flow, even when normally contaminated. Cost. There is a trade-off between clear plastic where you can see the filter element (on the dirty side) and a metal one that is safer in a fire. I prefer all the fuel system components possible to be low in the front and the hose(s) to the rear be insulated from the firewall at the rear end of the tunnel to the carburetors. Do you have the insulating phenolic spacers between your heads and intake manifolds? Best, Grady

Get a couple cheap STEEL fuel filters, they don't melt quite as fast as the plastic ones in an engine fire.
