If 1 is Good.......2 Must Be Mo Betta
Well, I needed to get a new daily driver because my Ranger's lease is up, so here's what I got. It's an 87 Turbo. I won't be "tinkering" with this one as much as I did with the Beast but I doubt if I will be able to keep my hands completely off. Any ideas for the first thing to do?

Mark- I think the 944T is a great car. They are cheap (ish) and will outrun most 911's on the track. You can give it a bunch of hp w/ air intake, chips, etc- but I think you have a good looking 944 that I would just leave stock since the main purpose is a daily driver and the more hp, the more problems you might create. My .02.

Congrats on the new ride. I like the look of the 944 and have always liked anything turbocharged. I have driven a NA 944 and it had excellent handling.

First Porsche I ever drove was a new 944 (NA) back in 1984 when I was a Sr. in high school. One day my boss just tossed me the keys and sent me on some errands...alone...woohoo
Incredibly balanced and well-rounded cars. I actually was headed on the path to buy a 951 a few years ago, when on a whim I started also looking at 914's and got hooked on them. Enjoy the new ride,

951's can beat a lot of 911's on the track, but there's one 911 in Mark's garage that the 951 won't be able to touch, and I think it's got a gearbox in the works that's so sophisticated it's not even lawful to export it.

A good first project for this car would be to remove the stock EFI and work in a programmable EFI like Haltech or Motec.

Put a timing belt in it or if it is good, have it readjusted. Many folks don't know to do this with painful consequences. I sure miss mine, it was a great car

Nice car. Depending upon maintenance history and records; check brake pads, replace rubber sections of brake lines (are they 14 years old?) and flush out old brake fluid and install new.

First check:
Waterpump, cambelt, brakes, plugs...change filters and fluids. Tinkering: Big exhaust, chip, ported heads, good filter, higher boost, O-ringing. Don't bother with aftermarket EFI, original Mo(r)toronic is pretty good (no CIS in this puppy). With cheap mods and lightened, this car will be running around your 911...I'm not joking! Looks pretty boring tough...

Hey Mark - looks like you've got bitten by the P-bug pretty good.
My mother-in-law has a garage queen 951 with maybe 40K on the clock. It is my duty to take it out periodically and clean the water vapor from the turbo housing. ![]() Other than water pump, cam belts, and clutch I wouldn't do anything to the car. You have the Beast, what more do you need? Keep it a comfy daily driver.
