Heads up- Check your headlight buckets

I went to change a seal beam and found 3/4 inches of wet powder in the bottom of the fender headlight bucket. It had plugged the drain tube. I thought that I did not have rust in my pcar, I was surprised. I found the reservoir bolt in the bottom of the bucket was rusty and the ring screw attachment in the bucket was very rusty

I cleaned everything up and por15 the rust.

I realized that the headlight buckets are essentially open to the road and collected 25 years worth of dust and debris and should be cleaned occasionally. Interestingly, just the left side was much worst than the right.

Just a heads up.

I wonder what we'd find in our buckets if we lived in Humboldt

I just had the front bumper off to replace the smile.
Have a look at the body seam next to the emissions and washer tanks. Amazing how much crap gets packed in there. Also along the seam edge where the smile screws to the fenders. A nice trap for road grime.

Once you get the rust fixed and the drain tube unblocked it is a good idea to bomb the entire bucket with Wuerth cavity wax. Don't breathe it.
