where does this ground cable connect?

My 1980 SC runs great and during a third brake light install I discovered this disconnected braided ground cable behind the rear fuse panel....nowhere obvious jumps out?

Thanks in advance. Graham

Graham,

Where is the ground coming from?

Someplace back here (green arrow), there is a ground stud on the inner fender where this ground can go (unless it is coming from there).

If it is coming from that ground, I suspect it attaches to the aluminum electric panel.

Best,
Grady

Thanks Grady...yes it comes from back there where you have the green arrow. I notice the aluminum panel floats on rubber insulators so I wasn't sure if it was grounded or not? Perhaps it attaches at the rubber gromet near the top?

You can see it here on the lower right of the console. Since the console is insulated by the rubber mounts, it needs this ground lead to the chassis.

Yes it is a ground to ground or a bonding wire. Ed's pic is correct.

Mine was trapped between the alum. plate and the rubber mount.Insert bolt into panel, slip the ground wire over the bolt and fasten assembly to mount. HTH Jim

Mine was just sitting behind the panel not attached to anything when I bought the car. This is how it looks now after my MSD install.
