time to refurbish my fuchs - opinions?

Hi all,

My fuchs 15 7 & 8's are in desperate need of some TLC. I will be taking them to a reputable shop for the work. My only problem is, I'm having a difficult time deciding on where to go with the finish. Should I stay with the current matte black centers, or would the rsr finish be a better option? Are there other viable options? I appreciate that opinions are just that, but I would all the same like to know if there is a consensus in either direction. If you could back your argument with a picture I would much appreciate it.

Regards

Claes

I know it's a 930 but you get the idea.

Stay with factory black centers. RSR finish is nice but only looks right on certain cars.

I'm assuming that the Oh Haha's 930 is your alternative. Certainly a different look, more showy, and stock has a more refined/sleeper quality. My Euro 85 with 15" wheels are the stock combination but I've wondered what my car would look like with the 930's combo. Either way, you have a nice car, and good luck with your decision.

Your car appears to be subdued with little or no "bling". IMO, it's a little too understated. I think the RSR accented wheels would look great. +1 on the silver script!

Oven cleaner to remove the paint and anodization, Scotch Brite for texture and a clear coat. It's an easy DIY.

I agree RSR finish with silver script, will look great. Send those wheels off to Harvey Weidman, he is the man for re anodizing wheels. You're not going to get this done locally.

Go "Ferry Porsche edition style" - Remove the Carrera decals and do a color code match on the wheel's with polished lips.

Love your coupe. Really Sharp. I personally like the flat black centers and I would get rid of the carrera stickers all together. That coupe is really sharp. I now wish I had the coupe instead of the targa. Love the look. I have the original phone dials on my 1984 and I am planning on getting some fuchs 7's and 8's and doing the whole wheel in a flat black and maybe having an extra deck lid with a rear spoiler so I can change the look up when I want to. Personally, your car looks really nice the way it is.

Never heard of using Oven Cleaner to remove paint.

I know it removes the anodizing.

Will it remove paint? I've always just used Aircraft Paint Remover.

Hi Joe Bob,

Did you prime the wheels before you painted them? What paint did you use?

The ones in the past, I've used Wurth or Krylon rattle cans. No primer.

The 15x6s I powder coated clear.

+1

Here are mine: Not Fuchs but you get the idea

What I started with:

The finished product... VHT rattle can! (not my preference but hard to argue with the result)
