First time I rode in a Porsche was as a passenger. I was 17 so no drivers license. It was a midnight blue Carrera 3,0 with small mods to the engine. I decided, right on the spot, that one day I would own a 911. The owner smiled at me thinking I was a crazy kid.

About 4 years later (can't remember precisely) I got to drive an 87 911 Turbo Look Cabrio myself. Perfect summer weather, cab down, rural roads. I went into a sort of coma while still being awake. After the ride I couldn't speak and my legs somehow had troubles supporting my weight I was shaking all over my body and I knew I HAD to have a 911 NO MATTER WHAT!!!

When i decided to buy myself a 911 i test drove a 911 RS '74 (great car, good response with the mechanical injection), thats the first time for me.(3 days later i bought my 930)

"but many chicks have got their first "ride" in my 930 instead."

The best ride? well it must be a tall blonde one last summer.

I was in 8th grade and stayed late after school one day, As I was heading out to walk home (a few miles), my English teacher offers me a lift in her greeen 912. Wow! I was hooked after that. It didn't hurt that my teacher was easy on the eyes, too.

The first time in a Pcar was when I test drove my first SC. That was 3 years ago. I didn't buy that one. I don't think it was the best ride ever, either. I was so nervous/ excited about it, I was more focused on not hitting anything. I certainly didn't drive the wheels off of it, so it was pretty lame. I don't think I went over 4k rpm. In the second car I test drove, I figured out that 4k+ was where all the fun was. That was more fun. The best ride ever was my first DE (in heavy rain).

My first time was when I was a 914 when I was 15 with no license, no registration, no muffler... The police didn't mind too much but still wanted to talk with my parents.

The neighbors gave me a '72 914 that "would never run again". It took about 3 hours to get it to go. In hind sight I probably should not have driven it around the neighborhood after I got it running. It was loud without the muffler…

The older brother of one of my best friends in high school had a 914 of some vintage back in the late '70s. We thrashed that thing a few times around the back roads of East Tennessee. I never got *really* into Porsches until college, though and it took ten more years after that before I bought my 911...

My first was in a 74 coupe with a transplanted 3.0, probably two months ago. The rest of the car was crap, the owner only cared about going fast in a straight line, and his car reflected that. But it sure as hell went. Just the sound of that flat six got me hooked, and despite many complaints on this board, I didn't mind the way the 915 shifted. Despite the fact that this 911 leaned on corners like an SUV and braked like it had blocks of wood for brake pads, I knew that I had to have one. Still looking though....

didn't really notice much complaints bout the 915 gearbox, personally i like it, the shift maybe be long , but it's precise and smooth once you figure out that you're not supposed to apply any sideways pressure on the stick...

Mine was a 235KMH ride up the 5 freeway in Orange Cnty late one night in a 73 RS replica. Great ride and I was instantly hooked. When I stepped out of that car, my wife could see in my face that we were going shopping

My room mate at University traded his nearly new 1968 Triumph tr6 for a 1969 911T with over 100000 miles on it .I thought he was crazy The year was 1971 or 72. What fun that car was!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Before long we were running a small business buying 911 & 912 wrecks all over the place. We had a 67S which had front bad front end rust we bought it for $600 complete Those were the days That S engine ended up in a 1969 or 70 T body car I think. We sold it for about $3 or $4 k.I personally drove Japanese 240 Z cars after graduation until I could afford what I wanted. I had a77 930 years ago and my wife talked me into a 944 turbo when they first appeared in late 85 Traded it on an 86 911 Cab when it's warranty expired. I now have a 911 SC I bought recently to have as a second car I now pay more for a clutch than a whole car brought once upon a time but I still say What fun that car is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The first ride I got was well after I bought my 73. I met up wtih KC911 and he gave me a nice little ride in his 88 coupe. If I wasn't hooked before I was definitly hooked the first time I drove my car, smoke, worn out suspension and tires like pool balls.

Here you go kids. I purchased my Porsche through a posting on the Internet, flew down to South Carolina and picked it up. That was just a little over a year ago and it was the first 911 I'd ever been in. Also, it was the first time I'd driven a 5 speed, 20 yrs. previous I had driven my grandfathers "3 on the tree." The first few hundred miles were a little tough but driving from SC to NYC I had a bit of time to figure it out.

It was probably 1996/7. I had a friend that had a 1985 Cab daily driver and it was kinda beat up inside, dark maroon with a black interior. We went to a baseball game and on the way home we made a wrong turn into the rough neighborhood and hightailed it out. We then got onto I-75 in Atlanta and she stomped it - that thing MOVED!

She told me she got the car for $5000, so that is a number I stuck in my mind until my juct completed search. d'oh!!! She moved away to Amsterdam and we haven't talked in year. I wonder what happened to her and the car...

First Porsche was in 1977, my dad's '77 924. He drove my sister, me and another kid to school everyday, rain or shine, or harsh Wisconsin winter....

Bought my first last summer, Dad was very proud....

Yeah, VaSteve, you can't imagine the look on the PO's face when we took the car around the block for a test drive. I pulled up to a stop sign, put it in neutral, when it was clear I put it in gear and punched it...in reverse. Thank God no one was behind me. D@mn near crapped my pants.
