My alternative to a mid-rise scissors lift.
Mine is not as good -- I'll say that off the bat. But there just wasn't room in my garage to sink in a conventional scissors-type lift. I have work benches that swing down from the wall and I use the area where the car parks for other stuff.
So I dug a hole for something that would still work with a flat-belly-panned 911. The lift is 8" below grade, and there are 8" of reinforced concrete underneath it. My shoulders are still sore. ![]() The (very cheesy) presentation: The build slideshow:

Well that was cool - the cheesy production that is - and I say that with a big smile. (Also sprach...etc)
That lift is neat too - excellent job. I think there is a small concrete support pedestal under my floor, not that I am seriously considering installation, but still, it'd be nice.

And we all thought your garage was AWESOME before. Nice work sir. I love how you documented the build already knowing that we would want the details.
Sweet!

That's awesome and it beats the hell out when I was a kid and my best friend’s dad wanted something like this. But since there was a block full of kids, why not pay them 2 bucks an hour to dig a pit, which we did. He then formed it and we poured cement. Yes we were paid two bucks an hour to mix cement as well. Came out great and when we turned 16 we were all using the pit to work on our cars. But that's not all; since we did such a great job why not pay the kids to dig a pool. Yep, that’s right we dug his pool by hand and what an ordeal that was. That pool is still there by the way, only 7 feet deep, but it was the only one on the block and was used by every kid for years.

Took my breath away to see that level of creativity and forethought. I put a four post lift in my garage for parkring and service reasons but nothing that neat.

I was kinda hoping the video would be a time lapse set to the chase music from the Benny Hill show. Cool either way
