Passenger side marker light problems
I have an '83SC with an electrical problem where the front and rear passenger side marker lights will not come on with the headlight switch. The blinkers work, they illuminate when the emergency flashers are used and the brake lights work.
I have read on here the the '86 model has a diode under the dash which will cause this problem. I looked under my dash and think I have the same thing: White box a couple of inches long with a black (something) marked 150 ohms running from the headlight switch to the flasher. Is this the diode? Do '83 SC's have it? Any other help appreciated. Dean |

The black (something) marked 150 ohms running from the headlight switch to the flasher is a resistor. It provides back lighting for the flasher switch when the headlights are on. If you turn the headlights on you should see the flasher switch light up dimly.

I had intermittent issues, found the contacts were weak and painted over from previous body work.
Cleaned and tightened the contacts, now 5X5 ![]()

The marker lights are separately fused, have you checked fuse 4?

I checked the fuses last night but will look again.
Draco - what contacts located where? The ones on the bulbs look good. Are you talking about a ground somewhere? Thanks, Dean |

I was referring to the light assembly, itself, a complete Biotch to reinstall if you remove it, the freakin wires behind it are short as Hell. Check, tighten and/or buff out the light socket. Mine were loose and had a bit of water calcium deposits around it. It also had some primer on it as well. I removed the screw that was holding the socket and cleaned it. Squeezed the socket to insure a snug fit of the bulb. Placed some Di-electric Paste to prevent future deposits No need to remove entire assembly unless you plan to repaint the reflector or in my case I placed some aluminum foil (shiny side) for it's reflective properties.
