Help ticking noise under dashboard.

My car is 1988 3.2 RHD, while trying to repair my interior mirror (3rd try in 3 weeks) and first time today I hear a ticking/clicking noise coming from behind the clock / underneath the dashboard while engine is off.

The noise isn't steady like clock tick but faster something like trek..trek..trek.. then disappears and re-appears again after a few minutes lag. My clock is dead and I could not feel any vibration from the clock.

One thing is clear, it is electrical as the noise is absent if battery is cut off. Any idea?
I searched and found it seems that this is rather common but answers vary from 02 wire to glass flexing to master cylinder.

Thank you

My '85 has a mysterious buzz buzz buzz sound from the same area. I think it's rusty door jamb switches not de-energizing the power window relay. Noise disappears when you turn the key in the run position. Pull your oil/gas gauge and feel the top of the p/w relay, if warm/hot, then it's not shutting off. Or, it's stuck 'on',mine is brand new. Your windows should work all the time as well! I have new switches on order from our host.
Try this to eliminate a common problem source, your's might be different.

Befuddled.
