Engine Serial Number Help Request
I purchased a '75 911S Targa project car yesterday to add to my collection. :-P For a minor amount of additional money the seller threw in a spare engine that is supposedly a "race" engine, whatever that really means. The engine serial number is 6139063 and the case is also stamped 911/61. Based on my research I believe this means the engine is from a '73 911T/E automatic, 2.4L. Does that sound about right? Doesn't exactly sound like a race engine to me, but the fan shroud is painted bright yellow, so maybe someone's done some work to it, or maybe I'm interpreting the case number wrong. Any insight would be appreciated.
