My quest for the uber clean / simple / street / race interior

so, i started with this, and wasnt really happy, though it was nice, i felt there was a lot going on and to many different colors, fabrics, and textures...

then i moved to this, fit a 993 lower dash into my 1980 930, this was not a easy task by any means, and probably took me about 15-20 hours of just fitting and cutting, and grinding and welding...also, moved the radio to the glove box. and used a 993 rennline lower dash to finish it off, everything was then covered in grey alcantara,...

please excuse the drivers door as i am still working on it..

also excuse the boost gauge hanging, i am trying to come up with a new spot for that,...any ideas?

also if anyone noticed, the ash try spot in the lower dash was filled in, due to having to cut out that area to fit it to the car,...no smokers in my car anyway

No Glare..

I would do the dash in matte black to avoid reflections/glare and paint the toe boards wrinkle black - they simply scream "Ricky Racer". Oh my God..

Tongue in cheek or somewhere ;-)
chris

PS, serious about the glare.

I would never comment on somebody's work but since you asked:

I agree with the above the satin aluminum sticks out too much. I would paint it black or grey or even carbon fiber.

I like the aluminum, but like the old version better.

I appreciate where the car is going design-wise, but if it were my car, I'd take that Rennline dash piece to the anodizers and have it done in black with the logo removed. I'd powdercoat the floor plates in satin black. But that's just me. The simplicity of the design you have now is pretty swell.

What color is the alcantara on the dash and door panels? Does it match the seats? I'm assuming it is not purplish like it shows up in the pictures.

+1.......................it still looks a bit busy to my eye..........I'd also have the aluminum door lock things done satin-black and swap the red door pulls for black or grey.

Regards,

Al

Why? That interior has poser written all over it. Sometimes less is more.

In my opinion the dash and knee pads should match the upper door sills. This creates a smooth flowing effect. The door panels should match seat inserts and the dash filler panel. The gauge trim rings seem to be over the top, but I know the effect your going for (I've done it myself). I think the red door pulls are OK no matter what you do (except red door panels).
