if you magnify the pic, it looks like it has a raised lip like a steel wheel.

Fuchs fatigue crack around bolt holes, the grain pattern of the break looks like cast aluminum, besides if the crack did result in a break it wouldn't shatter the entire center like the picture shows. Forged aluminum is ductile and this was a brittle failure.
Like John Walker noted: steel rim!

Could be a 17" Fuchs made from a 16X6 rim.
I can see how it would catastrophically fail, being subjected to loads far exceeding what a 16X6 would see, plus after being welded, and being so many years old. |
