I can get it up, but I have to push it down
The original power antenna on my 78SC has finally died. It will go up, but not down. I read a post somewhere that you could mount an antenna under the dash and have the same effect. What have those of you who have replaced the factory antenna done? Any suggestions on aftermarket electrical antennas or under the dash replacements are appreciated.

You can always buy a Carrera windshield with the antenna built in, but you will need the antenna amplifier to go with it. You will also have to do some body work, and painting to patch the fender hole. Probably more $ than it's worth, but I love the clean look of the fenders without an antenna!

Uh...ever thought of replacing it with a non power antenna from an earlier model? If that won't work, break the SOB off, use a coathanger!

Hey Paul,
When I was looking at P-cars, I met a guy with an '83 SC, which was gorgeous. The only flaw was that the antenna would not always go down when the radio was turned off. However, he did have a small pad in an envelope (like a handi-wipe) in the glove box, which he ripped open and applied to the extended antenna in a matter of seconds. I must say, it worked like a charm. I believe it was a lubricant, maybe graphite based. He said he puts it on the car maybe once a month. Ended up opting for the bigger engine. Best of Luck.
