Can Someone Post a Picture of These Front Tow Hooks Installed.

yes, but its a little tricky if you have a lip spoiler as you dont have much access and youll have to wedge a prybar in between the a arm and the body.

geez, was that car dragged around by those hooks? They are made more for trailer tie down, or to hook a winch up to and pull it on a trailer, not so much to be pulled down the street by them..

Using those for towing will likely bend the front valence or destroy the rubber air dam if you have one.

That damage does no look like it is from towing, it looks more like the car bottomed out at speed. That took some force.

In the photo it looks as though the metal had been weakened by rust as well.

I don't recall the thread that the photo of the broken tie down hook first appeared in, but as I remember the story the damage happened in "normal" use, except for the issue of unseen rust. I think I also remember that serious body work was done to correct that rust.

Then again, I could be wrong, because what I think I remember doesn't explain the break in the hook itself.

Anyway, I need new tie down hooks, because the original ones are ground down to nothing and broken.

Are those Rennline hooks the best out there?

Check at a salvage site and find some good used ones. Then you will be "original"

I put a set of those on in the event I ever needed a winch up onto a deck. And I thought the extra bit of protection from hard things like drive way curbs and the like would be good. However, there was something I read here a while back that has me thinking I'll replace the original hooks. Jeff Alton was talking about how a set of those caused some big issues after hitting something hard at high speed. With the original hooks, the problem would have likely not been so. Probably best to talk to him or do a search here for more info, though.

If your car is at euro height or lower, you will not like how many times they hit. I modified mine by heating them up and then bending them 45 degrees. Much better.

Who is the supplier of those tie downs you intend to use? They are shaped differently from the Rennline version, but are obviously similar.
