Oil Spritz Out Exhaust / No Smoke / Ideas?

Fellow Pelicans, when I start my 88 911, there is oil (or something wet) spraying/misting onto the pavement. Very small droplets or particles. I have been reading the board and haven't seen this issue. There is no smoke. Any ideas?

note: I accidentally posted this in the 944 forum section, so this is a re-post. One response from the 944 forum came back with a suggestion that the car could be running too rich.

Thank you in advance!

Trent

It could just be condensation in the exhaust system that's being spit out when the car starts. Obviously there's no water cooling, so if it's not oil likely it's condensation. Even though it might be grimy, I suspect it feels less "slippery" than oil.

My $.02. YMMV.

+1, normal. Just make sure it is not doing that when engine is hot.

I'll drive it around the neighborhood real fast...get it good and warmed up...and then check.

Prior to a DE this past weekend I took the car for some minor work, and the mechanic suggested I might need something done...typical.

Cold exhaust pipes + warm engine exhaust gas = condensation on every car. Key is to make sure you take trips long enough to burn it off. Most cars have mufflers with purposely placed holes in them to drain the exhaust of condensation. However the 911 banana muffler doesn't have any drain holes. So it's good to make sure most trips are long enough to burn it off and reduces the opportunity for muffler to rust-through on account of the condensation rich with exhaust gases.

Good point...I installed a Magnaflow with in and out on the same side and fairly short pipes...the challenge is that my work is 5 mins from home, sooooo...I guess I'll have to drive around the block...really fast...and with a nice detour...
