Puzzling noise near smugglers box

On 85 911 recently attached the wire plug at rear near compressor to see if ac worked. Removed it after check. When I started the car there is a strange whirring sound coming from smugglers box area. Sounded like the evaporator fan so disconnected it expecting it was the culprit. It wasn't. Its not from the blower under windshield or from front of car where condenser blower is. Anything else blowing in there or making noise ? thanks Doug

small pissed of rat ??

could be a hole in a line and with the compressor running could be shooting air thru the line ?? a good rule of thumb if the AC doesn't work in our cars and especially if things are disconnected is that the AC don't work .. if it was as simple as hooking up a wire I would assume the PO would have connected the wire ... they usually don't fall out of a connection they are unplugged ... also if they don't have a fan belt to the compressor and the pulley shows rust like it hasn't seen a belt in a decade or more ... a belt alone will not usually fix that either .......

JMO But I think its true and factual .......

Hey Doug,

It could be the relay, the OEM relay internals on mine got stuck and when I tapped on it the buzzing sound went away. I replaced it with Pelican's fused relay.
