Corroded Spark Plug Lead

of the 6 wires on my 86 motor, all are perfectly clean on the inside except for one.

is this something that can just be cleaned and reinstalled or is it indicative of a bad wire? or a bad plug? or it wasn't connected properly for some time?

clean and install? or make up a new lead with new connectors?

Why not give it a shot, if it doesn't work, swap it.

The missing rubber boot might have prevented the corrosion.

I pulled the boot off for clear pics, it was on snugly, including the valve cover ring, like all the others.

I am curious what caused this.

I'll make up a baking soda slurry and try to clean it out but would rather just replace the line the more I think about it.

just replace it - wires should be replaced at some (long) interval anyway

Moisture. Even with the boots on, moisture still tends to get in.
