Dizzy Cover Comes loose on a 3.2
Fired her up after a resto. The dizzy cap doesn't appear to be sitting snuggly. All new parts. The rotor has been pushed down. The cap appears to be located. Feel stupid asking but has me miffed...

Show a pic, maybe the retaining clips are not seated properly to the dizzy housing.
& don't be silly Brother, you need to ask, being proud will just damage your baby. Believe me I ain't proud to ask here. ![]()

Assuming you have the correct cap.....it's some times necessary to bend the clips a little to get a snug fit.

It is possible, if the distributor was out and worked on, the retainers on the side of the dist. was installed upside down..Ive seen it.

I would hold the cap against the distributor with your hand to confirm that it feels secure without moving the clips into place. If it doesn't, I would verify the cap is correct. If it doesn't feel secure by hand, clipping it into place isn't going to help.

Does anyone have a pic
Can't upload my pic for some reason. Does anyone have an image of the brackets that the hook locks onto? I wonder if mine are correctly installed. They point downwards. Should they be perpendicular to the dizzy? Thanks

Mine did once seemingly let loose on its own. No idea how. Was only being held with one clip. Ran lumpy (obviously) and chewed up the inside of the cap for a couple of minutes. Put a new cap on and it fit nice, the 90 degree spring loaded clamps felt secure again.
No idea how one could have become loose unless it wasn't installed properly in the first place or I knocked it working on something else. |
