Reinstalling CIS injectors?
How in the world do you get an injector back into an SC? I've pushed and pushed, beat on it with a hammer, still won't go in? I've tried putting the o-ring on the injector first, and also putting it into the orange sleeve first. How do you get these things back in? Seems impossible.

I used silicone paste, silicone spray should work too, if you use the paste use it lightly because it will attract dirt. I've also used a small screw driver to gently push it in, be careful not to brake the insulator.

Mmmm. I used silicone spray, and a BIG screw driver. The injector and the o-ring simply will not occupy the same space within the sleeve. I don't understand? They came out fairly easily. Should the o-ring go on the injector, or into the sleeve first?

Put the o-ring on the injector with a small dab of silicone paste. Then, you use a steady pressure (Lots), and you'll feel it start to slip in. I used a large rubber malet placed against the injector, then pushed with lots of force, untill they slipped in. I swear this is how I did it.
Trust me, yo want all those o-rings to be snug, so you don't have any vacumn leaks. |

If you've got an oygen sensor or cat converter down stream I wouldn't use silicone spray or silicone grease as it poisons these components.

I've got a euro, so my O2 sensor is just for show.
I think my problem may be because my o-ring is just old and stiff. Guess I won't be driving the Porsche to work tomorrow. ![]() Thanks for the replies ! |

I didn't realize you didn't have new o-rings. You need new o-rings. About $3 for 6. |

I use Dow-Corning 111 silicon grease, and use the end of a hammer handle (with rubber grip) to push the injector into the hole. No tapping, just a good steady push will do it. Gotta make sure you don't get any crap into the injector while doing so.

Yeah. If you can't get your old 0-rings rebuilt, then you'll just have to break down and buy new ones.

Well my local Porsche dealer wants $23.33 for those six o-rings, and can get them to me in as little as 4-5 days. Hence my attempt to reuse the ones I had. Anyone think there is a chance I get can this size o-ring someplace else? I'm off to Lowes to see what they have.

Over here, Lowes is a hardware store, which I would not expect to have them. But I would expect to find them at any VW repair shop and perhaps at any auto parts store. I'll bet they're the same ones as were on my '84 Rabbit. At any rate, my local VW repair shop guy just reached into a bin and handed me several. I would not pay more than $1 each.
