Weird starting issue on my 79SC
Guys, Took "Molly" home for the weekend from the Mickey's shop. She has starting issues so I wanted to drive her for the weekend to see what the what.....HELP The scenario is.... CIS rebuilt - new starter - runs very well and pulls all the way up once she starts. No misfire - no gas smell - no smoke of any color. Friday 9:00 am at Mickey's - ( Molly on street after moved from shop) first crank 9:15 am at a restaurant - first crank 5:30 pm at my shop - Tried and died 1 time - 6 cranks no start - Rolled down the hill - no bump in 3rd - 6 cranks no start - set for 5 min - dieseled up - first crank drove home - shut her off - restart first crank 10:30 pm - in my garage - tried and died immediately - 6 cranks no start - rolled down the hill - bumped in 3rd - dieseled up and go -drove home and shut her off - restart first crank Saturday 9:00 am - Tried and died 3 times - 2 cranks no start - Then she dieseled up and started - she will set now until 3:00 pm as I am at work. Backed into my spot so she can roll down the alley..not very optomistic I don't want to start throwing money at parts so any advice would be very much appreciated. Molly has been at the shop since I got her and this weekend is the first time I have gotten to enjoy her..and I DO ! Thanks, Geoff

Starting issues.......
Check the battery terminals and engine grounds. Sounds like the fuel pump is not getting full voltage to be able to fire the injectors. When you are trying to start the engine, that just makes it worse as the starter is pulling lots of amps. When you get home, put a battery charger or jumper cables on the battery and see if it starts better. Another place to look is at the fuel pump relay fuse. Check the fuse terminals for corrosion and look where the wires are held to the fuse block by the set screws. I'll bet you will find that the wires going to and from the fuse are badly corroded. If so, loosen the screw and either clean the wires or cut them back about 10mms so that there will be a good connection. Hope this helps.

Fred, thanks for the tip. Since this car is so new to me, I am sorry to say that I do not know where the fuel pump relay FUSE is. I can look when I get home as I have a Bentley. Replaced the fuel pump relay already with no change. That was the first thing I thought of as after I picked the car up in LA, she would not start and the FP relay had taken a dump. Changed it then and she fired right up. Changed it again last week to be safe....Geoff

Fuse
It is in the front fuse panel in the trunk. Look at the inside of the fuse cover for location.
