rear spring plate R&R question

Finished front suspension, next is the rear, ER polybronze bushings, adjustable spring plates, 81 SC. I have read that you need remove the caliper and disk, but all looks free and clear not to need to remove these. Am wondering if the info is referring to earlier models or am i missing something? Plan to start tomorrow, any foresight will be greatly appreciated. Also, seem to be many methods for r&R of the spring plates in general, if doing all new with q-change t-bars, is one method preferable over another?
Thanks.

No need to remove them.
