My braking solution, thanks everyone!

Well I finally settled and have my braking solution in progress. For budget and fit reasons, I am going with the 944T/964 caliper option offered by VCI.

I'll post pics for everyone when I get it installed and results once I get it on the track in May...

Just wanted to say thanks to Bill Verberg and Jack Olsen in particular for their patience!

just wondering why you didn't go the typical 930 route???

is it the front rotor situation? That is holding up my project as well

Good choice i've been using those calipers with the 930 rotors for the past 7 yrs., never had an issue of any sort. Be sure to get the larger mc.

I found a source on the OEM front rotors.

$670 a pair.

82SC: I went the 964 route as opposed to the 930 route for one reason really... Cost...

1. Cost of the system is 30-50% higher depending on vendor.
2. Cost of replacement rotors is about 5 times more on the 930 setup. $160 for 944 vs. $670 for 930 floaters..

#2 is the main concern.. THe rotors on a racecar get replaced a lot more often than a street car... In fact most guys I know replace them at least 2x per year... So while I had assurances that these rotors would last longer, I didn't want to take the chance on $1200+ a year on rotors.

Add to that the availability of replacement 944T calipers vs the hard to get 930 calipers...well you get the idea

MRC, the rotors are the 299x28mm and 289x24mm which is a decent increase over the stock 20mm wide ones I am using now...

hey jack...where did you source the front rotors? 670/pair??

I have called around and some places can get me the OEM rotors for about 270 each..but the hats cost 800 EACH!!!

Race technologies (who make the rotors for rennsport systems) said 740 for the pair including hats...I think it will be about 400-500 without the hats...the shaved down brembos

I am swinging up to TRE next week to talk to Dave...he says he may have adaptor plates so then I would just need the rotors...

Let me know what your solution is...my brake project is at a standstill till I can find a front rotor solution...

thanks

MJ

My solution was Dave and his custom hats. I lucked into a pair of NOS rotors, and Dave took care of the rest.

so your rotors have been holding up well even with all the track events???

hmmm....what do you plan when you do need new rotors??

still looking for a solution...I am sure a chat with dave will move things along...
I was going to buy the front rotors off that white 935 he had in his lot...but the owner decided not to upgrade to the big reds...thus the project at a standstill
