Suprised - no bushings on throttle linkage?
Hi All –
I was test fitting the throttle linkage for my carb conversion last night and initially thought I was missing some bushings. No big deal, grabbed the PET to get the part numbers. I was surprised to find there are no bushings shown for the ball/socket joint where the cross bar attaches to the brackets that are bolted to the intake manifolds (see pic below - the joint between #12 and #15). Is this really the case?There is definitely some slight friction on this joint. Other than simply greasing this, is there anything additional you would recommend doing? I made sure there were no burrs on anything – the joint just seems a little “cheap”. Thanks! Scott S

I just replaced Part #23's on my 3.2, right behind the driver side intake manifold Cylinder #3.
Use a dremel and polish them out good before greasing. I found washing the engine promotes corrosion due to excess moisture that sits there and all pivot points (bell housing, clutch helper arm shaft), my observations. Jim

the ball/socket joint just gets greased. If there is too much resistance to rotation, try loosening one of the brackets and slightly repositioning it to see if this improves the condition. It may be a bit cheezy, but it's really the same type of ball/socket joint that is commonly used on linkage joints, like part #'s 21, 27, 28 shown above.

21,27, 28 are the type of parts I used a small polishing wheel to clean them out. they were full of debris/sand/rust
The balls were horribly scored smoothed those out as well and packed with greaseThe entire linkage is smooth like hot knife thru butta

I also seem to remember that the 'height' of one of the #12 balls was adjustable, with a double nut. This allows some adjustment of width of the gap between ends and thus tension against the coupler.
