Question Ahh, things are getting betterfor Rob! quick question- alternator

Hey everyone,

Got home and managed to use a dremel to cut the bolts on the ones that busted on my alternator, thanks to a fellow pelicanite When I was putting it all back together the best I could I noticed the VR retractable things- one was broken. (see pic. ) Wondering if that would cause me weird charging issues?

Symptoms were:
*This was the deal where my radio strarted flashing on and off after about 20 minutes of driving
*With a meter on it as it idled it sat at 12.3 volts then after a few minutes jump to 13.8 then drop back down and then after a few minutes do it again.
*Came home and the starter turned over really slowly, then started.
*Sat another night starter turned real slow again.

BUT who knows it may have busted when I dissassembled the alternator to get the stripped broken casing bolts out

I would take it to local alt shop. They would have all the parts.....you'll get a warranty and they will test it to make sure the VR is working correctly with no spikes.

Don't do an exchange with a parts store....you don't know what's been done.
