Is that how you tell real RSR flairs from Turbo--by the "flattening off" of the curve at about 11.00 o'clock?

I'm sure the car is probably one of the 15 . But as to that history bio. on the car for the IROC series.

Again , if the IROC car pictured in post 1 & 9 , is originally the strawberry pink IROC car (I cannot say 100% about the color - but that is the closest of the 15 colors that I can make it out as being) . More evidence that the shown driver history on that Bio. card for the IROC series is not accurate (unless it's actually a differant color. Or has been changed).

As per footage , and the announcer :

at 4:58 into video / "Bobby Allison in the Pink car is in 2nd place"

at 5:10 / "and it's Richard Petty back there in the purple" (aubergine).

I only point this out because it blows my mind. That I continually see owners (even long termers) of cars with serious race history. Yet they rarely have the history correct. I know it's not easy to accurately document race history. But if you are serious , and commited , it can be done. And as a caveat , regarding when a car is presented as being a certain car with a certain history. You cannot take it at face value no matter who owns it. Or is presenting . Only documentation tells the real story

The announcer comment at 5:10 of the footage shoots a bullet through the possibility of the shown Race 2 history being accurate (Richard Petty), even taking into account a possiblilty of today identifying the current color shade wrong ...I mean misidentifying the current color as pink when actually it's red . Because unless the car's color was changed at some point in between the series and now. It is obviously not aubergine now.

Of course , the announcer could have had it all wrong ....

you have to remember too that there is a reason that Porsche only did one year. The drivers had no financial interest in the cars - so tended to run them flat out - and play bumper cars with them... It's tough to find an original IROC car without some substantial crash damage (and fix)

Most of the restorations that have been made over the years have been overdone. The factory built them as racecars - they were pretty crude - and pretty straight forward.

I found on the Early 911S Registry that this car was originally Aubergine and repainted some time ago to the current color.

Pics on post 9 of the attached thread show the front trunk as still being aubergine.

It was originally the aburgine car. It was re painted in 1975 by Bob Nikel who purchased the car after the race series was over. Bob has owned the car since. It is one of the most original of the 15 iroc cars as it has not been restored. Just maintained since the series was over. The color it was painted was Peru red.
