Odometer

I went to the Parts Obsolete event this weekend in my 85 3.2, and on route my odometer and tripometer stopped working, the speedo is working fine....so am I correct in assuming that this is likely a problem inside the gauge? (the 85 speedo is electronic so I assume there is a motor inside the instrument to rotate the tumblers based on the speedo's input. I just want to make sure that the speedo is likely the problem before sending it for repair....Thanks

Yes, the wheels may have fractured for the Odo or maybe one of the green power lead solders may have fractured.

If your needle is working then it is probably the sprockets.

If you want to DIY, do a search and you can find procedures and a source for the gears. If you send to NH Speedo, it's about $140. I had them do one of mine a couple of months ago. Ken

Haven't investigated the availability of local talent for this job, so I'll do so. Thanks for the self repair thread, very useful.....I may even elect to "give it a bash" next winter. Cheers
