Missing Yellow 1973 RS alert ! So Cal

A friend, who is not so adept at posting, bought a light yellow real 1973 RS. The transport company , who is using a driver for the enclosed trailer, had the car picked up and it was reported to be in La Jolla area on Monday. that is the last it has been heard from: No driver, no truck, no car

I don't have a description of the truck/trailer yet, but would love to help my friend retrieve his car !

Stay tuned for details

Unfortunately (or in this case, fortunately), that is Standard Operating Procedure for many auto shipping companies. I wouldn't panic just yet, it's only been a few days of being AWOL. Chances are good they'll resurface, with their typical list of excuses for their disappearing act.

If not, any legit company has several millions in insurance. If the car is picked up but never delivered, that's an easy claim on the insurance company. Liability is air tight, and the value is too, since he just bought the car.

Point of origin (pick up) and destination of the rig will help. Company markings on the Rig?

If the transport company is one of the majors (Reliable, Exotic, DeMoise etc) they have gps and should be able to give progress report. THey also wait for a full load going in one general direction so delivery time is kind of unpredictable

Right so if it's one of the biggies, but the indy shops that bid the transport are usually low tech. When I shipped my Land Cruiser from Texas to Boston it was open truck, and they broke down 2 hrs from me. They called and ended up off loading 4 cars and delivering them locally via a F350 and flat bed!

Personally I would never ship anything of any considerable value open truck and not with one of the biggies.

Good luck, keep us posted.

The truck and trailer have been found on the street near the 10 and the 110 in L.A. . Not the best place in town- someone is on their way there now to see if the car is still inside.
No details on missing driver, or anything else
Keeping fingers crossed !

thanks for the encouragement

Why would anyone ship a 1/4 million dollar car with less than the best transport company? The only answer I can think of is if the person in question has enough cash where a quarter mil really isn't a big thing.

Hope they find it.

Z always injects da humor....

Hope it turns out well. Fact that driver is "missing" doth not soundeth good? Maybe he stopped off for some local entertainment or needed to grab a cold one...

Hope this is not the case.

It seems weird that if this was an enclosed transport, that someone would know about the contents and plan a heist. Wonder if when the bids go over the internet someone intercepts it and watches it. Seems it would be really easy to plan if there is maybe someone in Mehico looking for that for their gangster boss

Ive used uship and other then the pain of dealing with a shipping company it worked pretty well. I had my 911 shipped from miami to atlanta for cheaper then it would have cost me in Diesel to go get it with the F250.

the car has been found !

The driver must have had some personal issues, as he just left the rig double parked on the street in Los Angeles, with the keys in the ignition !!!
So it has been recovered, cops checked it out, all three cars inside, intact. So its back on its way to the new owner tomorrow

phew!
