Al, thanks man. All she'll need after the graphics is that MS ITB kit of yours to make her complete!;)

Gabe is the third member of our DZug triumvirate. Now back in Afganistan after being in California working on DZug parts production, he was with us in spirit and consultation during this build. Bro, we are working on Blackird all this weekend and week to get her ready for PP. will send u a clip when she is up and running. It will be easiest to call me on sat phone around 4-5pm your time which will be 8-9am my time.

Reaper930 07-31-2011 09:19 PM

Will call then, when are you guys driving down to PP?

Reaper930 08-01-2011 01:23 AM

BTW look what jewelry is going to go on the RSR for the crank pulley! The DZ 935 single pulley conversion at 695 grams less than the factory SC crank pulley!!!

Our itinerary for PP is in this thread http://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-930-turbo-super-charging-forum/609421-turbopalooza-porsche-parade-track-weekend.html

I have work obligations until end of this week, so we're not rolling until Friday. At DZ we are more interested in the track related events this weekend, and less so in the PCA polishing competitions, wine tastings etc through this week

The graphix guys should be completing car today, so Pete should have some tasty photos later today

Probably the most significant collection of racing Porsche turbos from the 70's and 80's outside of the factory museum

Wow. Is this collection open to the public? I was just in Hickory (and Blowing Rock) in July. May go back in a few months.

Great thread/build. Suspense has been killing me from the first post.

juicersr 08-01-2011 07:15 AM

Sick!

Those 15x8s out front just tie it all together for that agressive vintage look, very nice!

Is she going to get ride height lowered down, or good to go?

Dzug shift knob and X-brace are on my list this year, beautiful pieces....
oh and a couple Steins too :p

Well done guys :eek::eek:

ps I like the single wiper too

Dixie 08-01-2011 01:36 PM

Where did y'all paint the car? You make it look like it was done in the parking lot. What paint did you use (lacquer, enamel)?

JEM911 08-01-2011 02:06 PM

Great build!

klaus 08-01-2011 02:16 PM

Foose could have done this in just 6 days......

Just kidding, great work. If I knew there were cars like this going to parade I might have made the effort to make it down to GA.

Arrow, we are running basic 13" cookie-cutter megaphones straight off a set of SSI's

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1312246364.jpg

U can pick up the megaphones here (to my knowledge not carried by our host): Bay Area Motortrends

Thanks 911Freak,

She's pretty much gonna stay at 'Targa Florio' ride height.

You've seen how the factory set up their car back in 73, right? Thing practically had a lift kit on it!

Had to show at least one interior pix with prototipo and DZug accelerator pedal... The stereo is in back and who cares what time it is:)

Pete and I figured if we kept the 7k tach we would be less tempted to over-rev her. Yeah, right.

Great build - Thanks for Sharing.

At first I thought, "those Martini graphics are going to ruin the look of that car." But the more I look at it, I love it. Fantastic job. So many details, yet it took such a short amount of time to build.

Its a Really big paint booth that only resembles a parking lot...lol

We had a proper paint booth lined up to shoot her in and were cancelled on at the last minute. So in order not to get any further behind schedule, we lucked out with a very dry hot and calm day. I shot it early in the morning just after the dew had been burnt off by the sun. we finished her in PPG Global.

Can't wait to see everyone at Porsche Parade!SmileWavy

Will, we initially had the same reservations, and the last thing we wanted to do was add to the roster of marginally done Martini RSR iterations. It really can be hard to do without all the true parts (esp 15x11/9 wheels). However, we created this car to capture the spirit of the Martini RSR for those guys that wish to participate in our touring program in Europe which we hope to start in the spring of next year. To give the look and feel of the original car without going overboard $$ wise. In this sense, with attention to specific details, i think we have succeeded.

Thanks for all the thumbs up guys!SmileWavy

Just like the original D-Zug, we do what has to be done in order to get the car ready for the track! This is where we feel we're different than the other shops that like to take a ton of $$$ and deliver sub par crap after 10 months...

Its the "get it done, and do it right" mentality that people just don't think outside the box anymore. That's part of the reason we don't see that many inspired builds.

juicersr 08-02-2011 01:02 PM

Final piece of the puzzle. Ducktail grill in place. Not really a big fan of the plain jane stock grill and we wanted something a little 'unconventional'. So we cut it out of piece of powdercoated grill mesh.

Grille

I like the grille. Slip a 1/2 inch nylon spacer under the top center mounting location and it will straighten and level that out nicely. Ask me how I know.

Regards,
Al

Have you got a tour route sorted yet, what countries do you plan to drive through as I may be able to help you with advice on a few fantastic roads you should do.

Thanks Captain, but got it covered. Have spent quite some time over last 10 years driving and motorcycling throughout Europe so have a large repertoire myself; The car is going to be staying in Sicily and Switzerland for hired touring of the Ring and old Targa Florio circuit and surrounds. Anyone interested contact me for more details or visit our website Dzugtours.com

Bought a large sheet off ebay a couple of years back knowing it would come in handy for something (oil cooler, inlet ducting, etc) Pretty stock stuff, so just poke around on ebay and you'll find it.

juicersr 08-02-2011 06:08 PM

How many of you guys have girlfriends that adjust valves? Is this how you are making Christy pay her way to Savannah Pete?:D

Juice
Really nice build.
Three questions
1 at the beginning of the build the car was wearing an early whale tail. Do you still have it and is the rubber on it any good. If so do you want to sell it.
2 how do I go about finding more on doing one of your tours
3 I am interested in doing at the ring and can you advise me by pm how when how much

Thanks

Michael
