Question 2 Wires Cylinder Heat Temperature sensor vs the single wire one

What is the difference between the 2 (beside the wire numbers) and if the 2 wire is the new type, when was it introduce?

Since mine is a conversion fitted with the 2 wire one, the introduction date may give me a reference date for the conversion.

The 1 wire sensor grounds through the body of the sensor, the 2 wire switch grounds through the second wire (more reliable)
