Hi,
I have an Porsche 911 swb form 1967. According to the COA the correct transmission number should be 131560 902-1. The only number on the transmission I could find is 1081113?! ![]() What kind of transmission is this (4 or 5 speed) and from which year or type? Please let me know. THANKS Ernst ![]() ![]() |

Hello, if you look on the bottom rib of the trans there "should" be stamped a code 902/01 as listed or similar there are some differing combinations BUT you should find this or another # on the bottom rib.
That will identify the trans as well as what ratios it left the factory with. You are close get a wire brush out and keep looking. Regards |

Ernst,
By serial number alone, that is a 1968 4-speed 912 transmission, type 902/01. The original gear ratios would have been A-H-Q-X, with 7:31 ring & pinion.

Here's a photo of the location of the type number in reference to the serial number on my '68 901 transmission. Mine is a type 901/05, although part of the '5' has been scraped off.
It's found on the protruding hump part of the transmission. I'm sure there is a more technical name for 'protuding hump'...but hopefully that description is enough to get you in the right area.

Porsche transmission
Thanks to all!!!
![]() It looks like the transmission which is now inside the car is not the original one. Where can you find the numbers of all different transmissions? On the internet and in all the well known books like Excellence was expected from Ludvigson, the Porsche book by Barth and the original Porsche by Peter Morgan, VIN numbers and engine numbers are all available but the transmission numbers are not mentioned anywhere! Do I miss some important book or website? ![]() Thanks Ernst |

Ernst,
This is the factory Porsche spec booklet for model years 1965-68, with some basic information on 1968 transmission serial numbers... ![]()
