The origin owner of my car had the front tow hook loops cut off. My question is, could I just weld new loops to the ears while they are still on the car? Or should I remove them? And if I remove them, will it affect the alignment?

When I had my suspension pan replaced my mechanic installed new tow hooks. The new style hangs down a bit lower than the old style and they just bolt on to the front of the a-arms like the old ones. I think they were around $35.00 each. You may have to get the front end aligned when you are done though, since you are unbolting major suspension parts.

Hi Matt. I actually wore mine off. The car is quite low and I guess too many scrapes coming out of gas stations etc.
I just made a new loop out of bright mild steel and had it arc welded on. It didn't occur to me maybe I should have removed the A arm/wishbone. It seems ok, I don't think any bush has been melted out. Bill ,79SC |
