Passenger door won't automatically lock..
when I lock the driver's door from the outside. Browsed through the owner's manual, Ultimate 3.2 Carrera owner's guide, and 101 Projects, but no luck. Any ideas?
TIA

Can you lock the door manually, without the key?

Yes.
I'm pretty sure passenger side used to lock automatically when I lock from driver's door with key. Owner's manual says both sides should be able to lock from either side with a key too i think.

It would be my guess that the small white plastic connector that connects your metal lock rod to the swing arm assembly has broken. Door panel removal necessary, easy fix, cheap part.
This is the same white plastic connector that connects your inside door handle to the metal rod. ![]() The plastic connector like this one in the picture is inside the door panel near the top right side. Last edited by chuckr; 08-15-2011 at 06:02 AM.. |

did you try to lock the passenger side with the key? if it doesn't then chance are the rod that connects the mechanism. pelican sells this rod for $5.50. I replaced both. and the central lock works like its suppose to.

Thanks for the troubleshooting so far.
No, the passenger door will not properly lock by using the key on the passenger side. The alarm does get set, however, and once the door opens it sounds off. The passenger door will properly unlock by using the key on the passenger side though. Any other ideas welcome..

the plastic ball socket on the end of the vertical lock rod popped off it's ball. the originals are weak and do that. the replacements are a bittch to attach, but stay on. lower the glass and look down the gap with a flashlight. you should see the rod laying off at an angle. i've reattached them thru the gap with a hooked welding rod to grab it and position it over the ball and a long screwdriver to pop it on, but if it can off once, it will come off again soon enough.
